You need to be within 21 to 27 years of age, unmarried, and a Law Graduate with a Bar registration eligibility in India, or any State. You can apply online on the Join Indian Army website. Selection is contingent on clearing the SSB interview. Training occurs at OTA Chennai for 49 weeks
Through its Soldier recruitment process, Indian Army is known to give training and jobs to 10th, 12th, Diploma and ITI passed students. Soldier General Duty (All Arms) Cl 10th /Matric pass with Min 45% mks in aggregate and Min 33% in each subject.
Soldier Technical (Technical Arms, Artillery, Army Air Defence) (a) Sol Tech 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% marks in each subject. (b) Sol Tech (Aviation & Ammunition Examiner) 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% marks in each subject.
Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical (All Arms) 10+2/Intermediate Examination Pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with min 60% marks in aggregate and min 50% in each subject. Securing 50% in English and Maths/Accounts/Book keeping in Class 12th is mandatory.
Soldier Nursing Assistant (Army Medical Corps) 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% in each subject.
Sepoy Pharma (Army Medical Corps) 10+2/Intermediate exam pass and qualified in D Pharma with minimum 55% marks in aggregate and registered with State Pharmacy Council/Pharmacy Council of India. Individual qualified in B Pharma with minimum 50% marks and registered with State Pharmacy Council/Pharmacy Council of India will also be eligible.
Soldier Nursing Assistant Veterinary (Remount Veterinary Corps) 10+2 / Intermediate exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with Min 50% marks in aggregate and minimum 40% in each subject.
Soldier Tradesmen (All Arms except Syce. Mess Keeper and House Keeper) i) 10th Simple Pass. ii) No stipulation in aggregate percentage but should have scored min 33% in each subject.
Soldier Tradesmen (Syce. Mess Keeper and House Keeper) i) 8th Simple Pass. ii) No stipulation in aggregate percentage but should have scored min 33% in each subject.
Survey Automated Cartographer (Engineers) BA / B Sc with Maths. Must have also passed 12th class (10+2) or equivalent with Maths and Science as main subjects.
Junior Commissioned Officer Catering (Army Service Corps) 10+2 or equivalent exam and Diploma / Certificate Course of a duration of one year or more in Cookery / Hotel Management and Catering Tech from a recognized University / Food Craft Institute. AICTE recognition is not mandatory.
Havildar Education(Army Education Corps) Group X - MA/M Sc/MCA or BA/B Sc/BCA/B Sc (IT) with BEd. Group Y - B Sc / BA / BCA / B Sc (IT) (w/o B Ed)
Soldier (General Duty) Women Military police Minimum education qualification is Matric /10th/SSLC or equivalent with 45% marks in aggregate and minimum 33% marks in each subject studied at matric/10th/SSLC level, without mentioning any specific subjects. (Note - * Upper Age limit will be relaxable upto 30 yrs of age (as on date of joining training) in respect of widows of Defence personnel who have died in harness.)

The Indian Army Salary depends upon the rank or the trades of the candidates holding a post in the Indian Army. The Army pay grade differs from the army base pay to that of a military officer pay. The 6th pay commission has increased the Indian Army Officer Salary and provided many allowances as well. The 7th Pay commission salary structure for armed forces has made considerable changes to the Indian Army, making their packages more lucrative and providing more benefits to Army officials. The Indian Army Ranks and Salary structure along with allowances are detailed below.

Note: An eligible candidate can be granted prescribed relaxations in all three measurements i.e. Height, Chest and Weight. However, he cannot claim dispensations of more than one category i.e. parental and sportsmen.

(l) Havildar Education As applicable to Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical for various regions. However, preference will be given to the candidate fulfilling the physical standard laid down for Soldier General Duty.
(m) JCO Catering (ASC) / Surveyor As applicable to Soldier General Duty for Automated Cartographer (Engineer) various regions.
Note:*Regional physical standards lower than the standards laid down in Para 2 (h) above will be applicable to clerical candidates belonging to those region.

Instant enrolment is provided into the Army as Soldier General Duty to the following through respective Regiment / Corps Training Centres:
  1. One son of a battle casualty.
  2. One real brother of a battle casualty, when deceased was unmarried / did not have a male child.
  3. One real brother of a battle casualty provided he gets married to the deceased widow who is issueless or has no male child.
  4. One real brother of a battle casualty provided he gets married to the deceased widow who has a male child but who has not attained age for enrolment.
  5. One real son of the battle casualty when the battle casualty has been invalidated out of service on medical ground.
The candidates should meet age, educational qualification, physical measurement and medical standards. The concessions as applicable to the sons of servicemen / ex-servicemen in physical measurement will also be given in such cases. They will not be put through any formal test like Physical Fitness Test and written tests.
